Colloquium "Examples of Convergence of Gradient Flows" | April 16th
We cordially invite you to a joint colloquium
of the Polish Mathematical Society
and the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics at the University of Gdańsk,
which will take place
on April 16th at 12:15 PM
in lecture hall 1.14 at the Institute of Informatics of FMPI UG.
After the lecture, you are warmly invited to join us for refreshments in room 1.18.
The lecture will be delivered by
Prof. dr hab. Piotr Rybka
from the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, University of Warsaw.
Title of the lecture:
Examples of Convergence of Gradient Flows
Abstract:
There is no unique definition of gradient flow and we will take advantage of this fact. When we study the question of stabilization of solutions of a perturbed gradient flow our work would be easier if the pertubation is a gradient flow. We will show when this is possible.
When we deal with a family of gradient flows we would like to ensure that the limit is another gradient flow. We will present old and new result to this effect. We will present a few examples.
